Our Weekend Away
One thing I have learned to enjoy is travelling. Such an odd
thing to learn to enjoy right!? As a person who suffers from depression and
anxiety any bit of travel brings out my anxiety. So, learning to love it has
become a huge thing for me.
This past weekend we decided to travel to England;
Manchester way and have an adventure. Little did we know the adventure would
start before we even got to the hotel. It took us nearly 9 hours of travel to
get to the bloody hotel (should have been 4.5 hours). It was like a car park on
the M6 for 4 hours. 4 HOURS!!! AHHHH…. Anyways. I was so excited to get out of
the car and into our hotel room.
Little did we know it was only a double room so one bed; ONE
BED! Ummm…. We have a kid and two adults. What the heck!? How are we all going
to sleep in one bed with a toddler who is so little but damn does he know how
to spread himself out to take up a bed. Well, I thought I would sleep on the
floor the first night... yep not a good idea. Nope. The next night I decided to listen to my
husband and all share a bed… I was so ready for my own bed.
On to the actual adventure… We decided to go to the Trafford
Centre for a little escapade. We went less than a year ago but Jaxson was only just
starting to walk, so we thought he would enjoy a run around and explore the
aquarium. WARNING to New Parents: DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT EVER LET YOUR CHILD
OUT OF THE STROLLER IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR SANITY. LOL. My husband ended up
running after Jaxson who decided to run straight for exit. Like holy shiz kid
can we not look like a normal family looking at some damn fish!? HAHA!
The rest of the day went relatively smoother and my sanity
was intact YAY!!
Day 2 was Chester Zoo. We have been here before but Jax was
only around 8 months old and as he is in to animals we thought let’s go to a
place that would have loads of animals! Parenting for the win! Ok not so much.
Anyways, we were hoping for a casual day of looking at the animals with no fuss
or tantrums. Wishful thinking!
Jaxson decided about 10 minutes into our peaceful (not so peaceful
anymore) trip to the zoo that he wanted to walk around. Do you think we learned
our lesson from the aquarium?! No, no we did not. We let Jax out to walk and oh
does he run! I’m shouting, Justin is shouting, at this point Jax thinks it’s a game
and is laughing hysterically. Oh what a peaceful day it was. HA! After a few
minutes of chasing Jax down, we managed to get him to hold on to the stroller
and walk like a big boy.
After the Zoo, momma needed a drink, but instead we all
settled for a quiet night back at the hotel for a swim, food, and packing up to
head back home. I love our little getaways and I hope one day Jax looks back
and loves them too 😊
